LANCASTER POLO CLUB
One weekend last summer, the Powers asked me if I wanted to go play in a benefit match, and of course I said “yes!” without asking even one question. It turned out that the game was at Lancaster Polo Club, as a benefit to honor a new inductee to the Polo Hall of Fame. If that wasn’t cool enough to be a part of, the Work to Ride kids were playing too!

Work to Ride is a program that connects at-risk kids to horses in Philadelphia… polo is their primary discipline, and it is exactly the type of thing I’d love to duplicate some day. In researching programs for horses and kids, discovering Work to Ride is what got me thinking of polo as a possibility- for kids- and even me. It’s fitting then that I was really excited to see their trailer parked alongside the field when we arrived. These guys are the root of my whole polo journey!

Not only did I get to meet them, but I got to play alongside these kids too, and they’re good! I don’t think they had any idea but it was such an honor for me to share the field with these guys.
